Is your growth being stifled by playing in "safe spaces"? Has the predominant psychology and spirituality of "good just as you are" shielded you from the deep resilient satisfaction of resolving your deeper shadows and traumas? Are you wanting to Awaken from the dream of your reactivity and suffering rather than trust your fragile self-image? "Am I good enough? Am I good enough?"
Working with me is a call to adventure in the wilderness of your own interior. I am committed to wholeheartedly supporting you in walking your path and it is tremendously liberating to take ownership of your own hero's journey in the face of a world that unconsciously encourages you play it safe and pretend to be powerless. A commitment to facing your suffering squarely as your own joyous responsibility becomes the true freedom that makes life worth living!!!

In each of us lies a deep wisdom and innate capacity for healing. That wisdom lies within our hearts, minds and bodies. Every moment is an opportunity to explore and discover our fullest potential. The human self is not a static entity. We are always unfolding and becoming. Sometimes, trauma cuts us off from this process of unfolding. Many of us have learned habitual coping strategies in response to traumatic environments. Later in life, these strategies may become "fixed" and automatic. This can lead us to feeling constricted, limiting our capacity for connection with the world around us.
Life doesn't have to be that way. I'd love to help you re-connect with your own aliveness.

A somatic psychotherapist and trainer of actor-singers in New York City since 1982, I still work exclusively with singer's, actors, and those who use their voice professionally in their work. Learning to express yourself authentically, in your God given voice in front of other humans is not always easy- but well worth the time spent. In fact, most people feel that dying would be easier that having to expose oneself in front of an audience.
Unresolved trauma is the source of our panic states that prevent us from being in the state of calm where true emotion is experienced. Our survival muscles, also called the muscles of initiation or emotional muscles, are also the muscles that produce speech and singing. When we are in a state of fight/flight/freeze, we lose access to relaxed elasticity and go into either a hyper or hypo mode.

If you decide to work with us, we'll address the issues that are important to you, whatever they may be. If you're in a relationship, we may work with you individually or with you and your partner together. If you are not in a relationship, we'll work with you individually to address personal relationship issues.
In our work together, we may focus on:
- exploring and communicating what you expect and want from the relationship,
- improving your ability to respond to requests from your partner in a supportive way,
- the possibility of being yourself with your partner, while allowing them the same freedom.

My goal is to help the client "tame their inner rhinoceros". There are times in one's life when certain unhelpful behaviors end up controlling you instead of you being able to control them. I work with a wide age range of children and teens and their families to recognize and strategize against habitual negative behaviors. I work with individuals that struggle with PTSD, compulsion, anxiety, anger control, defiance and grief. I work with culturally diverse clients overcome troubling experiences with friends, school, family history and environmental events. Heal your past for the last time. Trauma and depression requires more than just talk. Most traditional talk therapies do not go deep enough. Relief comes but only lasts a short while. I use Somatic Experiencing and EMDR to reach the core of your being to create lasting change. This is because it works on the deepest past of your consciousness and nervous system. Once that is healed, then we can change the emotions and thought patterns.

As a Contemplative Psychotherapist, I provide a non-judgmental and compassionate space to explore challenging life circumstances--past and present--that are currently creating suffering. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, grief, depression, a major life transition, or issues in your relationship, my intention is to help you move through and grow from your experience.
My approach is creative and intuitive. I believe in each individual's inherent health and wisdom. My goal is to work collaboratively with you, finding the path to that inherent wisdom. Sessions focus on deepening awareness of obstacles blocking that path, recognizing the wisdom of "bad" habits, and utilizing your strengths so you can grow and live more in alignment with your values.

My passion lies in helping women develop a healthy relationship with food. This means working on the issues that lead to eating disorders, disordered eating, compulsive overeating, binge-eating and 'yo-yo' dieting. These issues may include relationship problems, depression, anxiety, obsessive and compulsive behaviors in other parts of your life, etc. Effective therapy for food-related behaviors also includes training to help you break the destructive and problematic diet-binge cycles, while learning to pay attention to your body's own hunger and fullness signals. Therapy is compassionate, nonjudgemental, and understanding.
My clientele are women from 18-75! At the request of the client, I will be happy to include partner/spouse/family/friends in therapy, when that involvement enhances her success.

A somatic psychotherapist and registered dance/movement therapist, I am passionate about nurturing change through collaboration with my clients. I believe meaningful and enduring change comes about through a combination of authentic relationship, accessing and respecting the unconscious, courage, new experiences, and practice.
I blend subtle somatic techniques, dance/movement therapy, dreamwork, and close attention to words and stories to facilitate clients’ access to the potent keys of transformation that lie within.
My areas of particular interest and specialization include working with the somatic impacts of oppression, trauma, body image, anxiety, depression, chronic illness, and self-actualization.
I also work with child clients through play therapy and dance/movement therapy.

Are you able to intellectually understand your issues but, despite your insight, continue to find yourself repeating the same old patterns?

I am dedicated to working with people who want to get at the roots of their emotional distress and personal suffering. Building a collaborative relationship in therapy is the single most important factor in therapeutic success. This relationship will be the keystone for facilitating your personal growth and understanding of yourself not just intellectually, but also emotionally. Over time, an internalized healing space forms where you can recover access to parts of your true self. Speaking freely without unnecessary self-censorship may be simple, but it is not easy. I encourage you to try.
Through experiencing the freedom of talking in an atmosphere of radical acceptance, we liberate powerful emotional states that help to make deep and lasting changes. When fully understood, painful psychological symptoms dissolve over time.

As a licensed psychotherapist with nearly 30 years of experience in North Carolina and Colorado Teri uses an intuitive body-centered approach that combines all her trainings and certifications. The various techniques she brings to her practice are gestalt, somatic breath work, hypnotherapy, psycho-emotional kinesiology (which she founded), meditation and somatic hydrotherapy.
Teri has authored her own newspaper column as well as published magazine articles. She lectures frequently at Metro College and has worked extensively with industries giving seminars on wellness, as well as trainings in communication and conflict resolution in the work environment. Another aspect of her work is facilitating retreats ranging from a four day women's retreat using nature and breath, to one day workshops.
The techniques Teri uses are effective ways to get us out of our heads where we interpret life, and into our bodies where we experience life. It is by being present in our bodies that we can understand and feel our pain, eventually moving out of it and in its place experience who we really are. Teri is adept at creating a safe container in which to have fun, yet do deep transformational work which allows her clients to explore themselves spiritually, discover their potential and understand the relationship between the body and the mind.

Mindfulness Therapy, also called Mindfulness Meditation Therapy (MMT) describes a specific school of mindfulness-based psychotherapy as developed and taught by Dr. Peter Strong since the year 2000. It is best viewed as an alternative form of psychotherapy that does not involve medical treatment protocols or medications but seeks to teach you how to work with your emotions using mindfulness and the principles of Buddhist psychology.
Most of my clients have tried traditional "talk therapy" and/or medications and are looking for an alternative approach to treatment-based psychotherapy. Mindfulness Therapy is one such approach, where the focus is on teaching you how to work with your emotions yourself, giving you the tools to promote healing, well-being and happiness.

As Jungian Analyst and art psychotherapist, I offer solid and creative approaches for difficult emotions and unconscious material. While there are many techniques to "get at issues", it has been shown that the right therapeutic relationship is the most healing factor. Developing a trusting relationship where we can explore your inner landscape with commitment, curiosity and creativity can be a life changing experience.
For over 25 years, I have worked with a range of challenging emotional issues, including grief, depression, anxiety, and trauma. I offer short and long-term analysis and psychotherapy. I also have a special interest in women's issues and life transitions. www.swanfoster.com

I’m excited about helping people become aware of how they create barriers to authentic human contact in their relationships and helping to transform those that don’t serve them in a healthy way.
I love to work with people who are willing to learn to take personal responsibility in how they make contact in their relationships.
I love to work with people who want to really engage with their own growth.

My work involves a deep personal commitment to growing through grief. Specifically, I've developed a short-term therapeutic intervention intended to diminish suffering by expanding stories. It can be experienced independent of, or in collaboration with, ongoing individual psychotherapy. Whatever your losses, sustained or on the horizon, the meaning you make of them requires a capacity to create that, often elusive, 'new normal'. Through a brief process ( 6-12 sessions) we will engage in a collaborative effort to explore new perspectives, aiming to reveal the stories your loss has yet to tell. Ultimately, we will formulate our understandings through a concrete, creative project that memorializes what we discover. I believe that it is not suffering, but meaningless suffering, that defeat us...We can use our suffering to move us forward.

Through support and encouragement, I strongly believe that every individual has the ability to create change and find balance in their lives. Currently, I am specializing in working with clients who are struggling with perinatal mood disorders, infertility, baby loss and the transition to parenthood. In addition to my specialties, I am trauma informed and have been trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, which supports my work with clients who are dealing with varying life challenges and mental health concerns.
I feel that therapy should go beyond the face-to-face meeting between the therapist and client, which is why I use mind-body techniques, to help clients navigate and manage overwhelming stress.
